TURNO DA NOITE

São 5.00 em ponto. As equipas de limpeza da Câmara Municipal de Moura saem para o terreno. O meu dia começou por uma pequena conversa com os trabalhadores desse setor, essencial ao bem-estar de todos nós. Dúvidas, esclarecimentos, pedidos, informações, de tudo um pouco por ali passou. Foi assim, no dia de estreia de uma nova viatura de apoio a este serviço.

O poema de Sylvia Plath (1932-1963), que de fácil pouco tem..., remete para ambientes industriais - não sei porquê, mas lembrei-me de imediato de Pittsburgh ou de Detroit -, onde o clamor das máquinas a tudo se sobrepõe.


Night shift

Framed in windows of Main Street's

Hammers hoisted, wheels turning, 
Stalled, let fall their vertical 
Tonnage of metal and wood; 
Stunned in marrow. Men in white 

Undershirts circled, tending 
Without stop those greased machines, 
Tending, without stop, the blunt 
Indefatigable fact.
